Why Is An Assault Bike A Top Christmas Present For A Teen?
Share
With Christmas approaching, parents all over the country will be wondering what to buy for their kids, a task that may be harder for those with teens whose tastes and attitudes may seem to be constantly in flux.
However, if you like keeping fit and active and they do too, now may be the time to get them some gym equipment. There are very good reasons why an assault bike (also known as an air bike) could be ideal.
This may be particularly appealing to anyone who likes cycling, but isn’t so keen on going out in unfavourable weather conditions. That alone could make it a well-timed gift at the time of year when the days are shortest and the temperatures coldest.
Indeed, this could also bring the benefits of better safety, as winter is a more dangerous time for cyclists due to the slippery road conditions and the poor visibility in the dark and sometimes misty conditions.
While data has shown that cyclists are much less likely to be killed or injured on the roads than used to be the case and it is middle-aged riders who suffer the most accidents, it is worth noting that mornings and evenings are the highest-risk time.
This is partly due to heavier road traffic, of course, but this is also the time of day when it is darker in winter than in summer.
What Is So Good About An Assault Air Bike?
It is not all about safety, however. An air bike can be a wonderful thing to train with for all sorts of reasons:
· It builds up stamina through exertion, without exhaustion. This is aided by the moving handlebars, which increase heart rate without leaving the user out of breath.
· It offers a total body workout, ensuring no muscles are neglected and burning more calories. This can be handy when there is limited space at home for any other gym equipment.
· It builds up abs and back muscles, aiding balance and strengthening the lower body, especially the quads.
· They can be used by people of different sizes, which means that as your youngster grows, they won’t grow out of them, unlike their clothes.
· Exercise pumps more oxygen to the brain, helping it develop, as well as releasing endorphins (feel-good hormones), which is good news for moody teenagers.
All of these are great reasons to get such a bike, allowing lots of flexibility in training, including the option of gentle exercises on days when they have less energy and the chance to burn off lots more with a vigorous session on other occasions.
Why Do The Downsides Of An Assault Bike Not Matter Much?
Some downsides might get a mention too, but these are only about the limitations of the bike. It is also not great for building bone density, but that is an issue for over-35s, not youngsters.
Equally, it won’t build dense muscles in the same way weights will, but if that is what your teen wants, weights can be the next present.
Indeed, it may be concluded that an assault bike may be particularly suitable for teenagers who want to keep very fit, but are not interested in becoming very muscular. For example, a youngster whose sport is rugby might like using weights to beef themselves up, but not those who might benefit from speed, balance and general athleticism in other sports.
What Are The Long-Term Benefits Of An Assault Bike?
Therefore, the training benefits are clear and they are similar to many of the benefits they will get from riding a bike for real in the outdoors, but without having to endure bad weather or risk accidents. It can even be useful in summer if they want to train indoors out of the hot sunshine and not end up dehydrated, exhausted or sunburned.
Quite apart from these wider considerations, the timing of the gift may be particularly useful as Christmas is not exactly a time for healthy eating. If your family is keen to stay fit it may be you may be more careful than many folk when it comes to what you have on your plate, but most people will not be able to resist at least a little bit of seasonal indulgence.
For that very reason, especially as those still growing may not quite have the same dietary discipline as adults, having a means of preventing them from piling on the pounds in winter is a great idea.
They may call it the ‘most wonderful time of the year’, but it can also be the most fattening. However, with a gift that will keep on giving, your teenager can enjoy a safe, effective and long-lasting training device that helps them get fit and stay fit for years to come, helping them to enter adult life in great shape.
