Why An Indoor Fitness Bike Is Useful For Spring And Summer

March is a favourite month for many people, as winter can finally be left behind and the days start to get longer than the nights. For some, it is the time when their fitness activities adjust to become more of an outdoor than an indoor affair.

Of course, being able to stay fit indoors during the winter is invaluable. Apart from burning off all that extra Christmas indulgence, it ensures you stay in good shape and can emerge into the sunny months in good shape to make the most of the long daylight hours.

None of that is to say that you cannot get outdoors in the winter, but many activities, such as going on very long walks and hikes, running marathons and half-marathons and going on extensive bike rides are all far easier to do with the extra light, not to mention more pleasant in warmer weather.

The Benefits Of An Indoor Bike Now

In such circumstances, it may seem odd to emphasise the value of investing in an assault fitness air bike for indoor gym use now. However, there are very good reasons to do so.

During the winter, the assault bike offers an alternative to spending a lot of time outdoors when there are numerous hazards and challenges: it gets dark early, there is more fog and the roads can be dangerous due to icy conditions. Winter cycling also increases the amount of maintenance work you need to do on your bike.

However, while the arrival of spring means you don’t have to worry about these things and the days will go on getting lighter until late June, the assault bike offers the opportunity to help keep your leg muscles toned and overall fitness up even when you don’t have the time to get out on the bike.

This is important for two reasons. The first is that summer will bring many other demands on your time, as you will take your holidays, be off to barbecues and be engaged with the outdoor activities of your children, not to mention any summer sports you may play like tennis or cricket.

None of that is unpleasant, but it may take some time away that you could otherwise spend in the saddle, so even if you are only grabbing some spare half an hour here and there, hitting the indoor bike can help keep you toned up.

Get Fit For Summer Sports

Indeed, if you are undertaking sporting activities, you may find the overall fitness boost from the bike helps when you are competing hard in the final set or running in to bowl one more over late in the day.

The second is that you need the benefits of the extra fitness you can gain on the indoor bike precisely because when you do get out on two wheels in the summer you will be able to ride further and for longer. That is when you will feel the benefits of all the hours you have put into cycling at home and building up your fitness.

All-Weather Options

Besides all this, there is the unfortunate reality that even the height of summer is not guaranteed to bring some good weather.

It would be lovely to think that the summer will be beautiful and sunny, but it may also be a washout in the manner of 2024 in parts of Scotland, or England in the endless downpours of 2012. Of course, you can still cycle in the wet, but at least an indoor bike gives you the option of staying fit another, drier way.

By contrast, if you have pale skin, there is also the possibility that you may catch the sun rather too much, perhaps by forgetting your sun cream or not reapplying it enough. In such circumstances, you will need to make your next couple of rides indoor affairs while your scarlet skin heals up.

Be Ready For Autumn

Quite apart from these considerations, investing in an indoor exercise bike now means you will also be well-equipped when the seasons turn and the nights get cold and dark again in autumn and winter. Then, all the benefits of pedalling indoors and avoiding the hazards of darkness and poor ground conditions will come to the fore again.

Everyone will be hoping we have a great summer, especially those who love to get active in sport, climbing the hills, or hopping on a bike and going on a long ride. Watching footage of events like the Tour de France will add to the inspiration.

However, it is by having an indoor bike that you can do some preparation almost every day to get and stay fit, building up the muscles that will enable you to make the very most of the coming summer on two wheels.
